Overview of Program

INSPIRE focuses on outdoor learning and practical skills, providing a full day each week where students engage in hands-on activities like bushcraft, foraging, gardening, science exploration, and age-appropriate hunter safety.

Who Qualifies for the Program?

Colorado provides funding for homeschool enrichment programs to be offered to parents for free. Students who are not enrolled in public schools (home-school and private) or another publicly funded educational program qualify to attend a homeschool enrichment program like INSPIRE. Parents don't pay anything for their students to attend INSPIRE for one full day per week of programming, open to K-12th grade.

Program Breakdown

Bushcraft: Students will learn essential outdoor survival skills, including shelter building, fire safety, knot-tying, and basic wilderness preparedness. This portion of INSPIRE equips students with confidence and competence in the outdoors while fostering teamwork and problem-solving.

Foraging: In this hands-on segment, students explore local plant life, learning to identify edible species, understand seasonal growth patterns, and practice responsible harvesting. These lessons build environmental awareness and a deeper appreciation for Colorado’s natural resources.

Hunter Safety & Shooter Education: This component introduces age-appropriate firearm safety, outdoor ethics, and foundational skills related to hunting and wildlife stewardship. Students gain knowledge of safe handling practices and conservation principles under guided supervision.

Science Exploration: Through experiments, nature-based observation, and interactive demonstrations, students investigate scientific principles in real-world outdoor settings. This class encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong connection between science and the natural world.

Gardening & Agriculture: Students engage in hands-on agricultural learning, from soil preparation and plant biology to sustainable growing practices. This experience helps them understand food systems, develop responsibility, and build practical skills that connect them to creation and cultivation.

Physical Education: Physical education is an integral part of the INSPIRE program, focusing on promoting fitness and health. After lunch, students participate in various traditional games and sports, which not only keeps them active but also teaches teamwork and sportsmanship.

Worldview and Apologetics

At the end of each day all students are invited to join us for our one-hour Biblical Worldview lesson. In these lessons, students will learn the abundant evidence for the truth of God’s Word and will be equipped to share their faith and “be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15) The worldview class is great for strengthening the faith of students or introducing them to the overwhelming evidence for God and the Bible.
