CREATE

CREATE is one of three themed years that are part of the ICE program developed by Enrich Colorado. INSPIRE, CREATE, and EXPERIENCE, are the three themes that rotate year to year, each one with a special focus to provide something new for home-school students.

Overview of Program

CREATE is focused on, well, creating things. The program is composed of a series of classes that students attend when they do their one full day of programming each week. Each of the following classes will provide one hour of programming on each day (once/week) a student attends our program.

Who Qualifies for the Program?

Colorado provides funding for homeschool enrichment programs to be offered to parents for free. Students who are not enrolled in public schools (home-school and private) or another publicly funded educational program qualify to attend a homeschool enrichment program like CREATE. Parents don't pay anything for their students to attend CREATE for one full day/week of programming open to K-12th grade

Program Breakdown

1. Architecture (LEGO Based) and Building:
From building bridges in the strongest way possible to creating layouts for homes, forts, and other cool structures, students will use LEGOs to learn the ins and outs of architecture and building in our enrichment program.

2. Cloth and Clothing Construction:
Many of the practical home-economic skills have been lost in our modern education system, but we plan on incorporating many of them into our program. Students will explore different methods of creating items out of cloth, such as quilting, crocheting, sowing, and macro may. Students will take home beautiful creations to remember their hard work and creative effort.

3. Science with Lab:
Students will complete a science class during their time at the CREATE enrichment program providing one of their core subject credits as homeschoolers. The science class and lab utilize the curriculum “Berean Builders” by Dr. Jay Wile and students will gain an appreciation for the amazing world around them and the intentional design it displays.

4. Mechanics and Automotive:
From pinewood derby to full size go-carts, students will learn a comprehensive introduction to mechanics and automobiles. Students will go from designing their own pinewood derby car, with lessons on aerodynamics, speed, and design, to racing these cars in a family friendly grand pix race. Students will then work as a team to learn the ins and outs of automotive mechanics as they build a child size go-cart and try out their new creation.

5. Carpentry and Woodworking:
Students will learn the basics of carpentry and woodworking and gain a foundation in a skill that will stay with them the rest of their life. Everything from knowing and properly using tools to building furniture will be part of this class.

6. Physical Education/Play-Time:

Students all take part in a physical education after lunch break to get them active and let them enjoy some traditional games and sports.

Worldview and Apologetics

At the end of each day all students are invited to join us for our one-hour Biblical Worldview lesson. In these lessons, students will learn the abundant evidence for the truth of God’s Word and will be equipped to share their faith and “be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15) Worldview class is great for strengthening the faith of students or introducing students to the overwhelming evidence for God and the Bible.
